Our story

How Eagle Glow began

I was always curious about product design, and I got into leather because of the way it lives with you. It ages, it changes, it takes on the shape of whoever carries it.

I never focused on selling anything. I just gave myself a task: design the world’s most minimalist wallet. Not just less bulk, but minimal in every way, in how it looks and how it works. Clutter in daily life has always bothered me.

That task became the Reeve series. I made a lot of them for friends, and they loved them, so I listed a few on a marketplace while still working full time. It blew up immediately.

For months I worked my job during the day and made wallets at night, twelve hours or more. No investment from anyone, just what the orders brought in. Then I knew this was what I wanted to do, so I quit and opened my own studio. Today I design and make everything myself. That’s Eagle Glow.

Our design philosophy

How every product is designed

Every product is designed by me, and the process is the same every time.

The first rule is that I don’t look at anything online. No Pinterest, no other makers’ work. I’d rather start from a blank page than build on someone else’s design.

It starts as a sketch in my notebook. Then a paper prototype, measured and cut. Then the first leather version, which is usually ugly, but I carry it for weeks to see what the design gets wrong. Friends carry them too, so I’m not the only one judging.

It takes three or four rounds before I’m satisfied. Only then are the dies made and the product goes live. From first sketch to finished product, about a month.

The leather we use

Where our leather comes from

All of our leather is full-grain and tanned in Turkey, and all of it is a byproduct of the meat industry. No animal is ever raised or killed for our wallets.

We work with a small number of tanneries, chosen for the quality of what they produce and for how responsibly they work. Their leather is the best I’ve found anywhere, and we stay with them rather than buying wherever is cheapest.
